I'm looking forward to see that article translated! Even though I don't fancy switching allegiance

Apple vs. Manchester United

Hmm...I'd die if Micro$oft sponsors Manchester Utd though!

Ok, here goes for the translation... (loosely translated)

Last Saturday, November 20th, and coinciding with the football match Bar??a-Real Madrid, Philip Schiller and Marc Ingla secretly got together in the F.C. Barcelona offices.

Shiller (Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing) presented to Ingla (vicepresident Marketing of F.C. Barcelona) a spectacular offer to display the most widely recognized apple in the world on the Bar??a jersey. Treating it as a concrete offer of some annual 22 million euros, more incentives by earned titles, which could add up to 27M ???.

The offer was enthusiasticaly met by the marketing people of F.C. Barcelona, making it an ideal mark for the sponsorship of the club. So much so that the logo itself would be stamped in the undershirt, like the Cupertino company's slogan, "Think
different", this resolves the esthetic problem that other logos generated with the complicated combination of colors of the equipment, and they inserted it with the philosophy of "more than a club" of the Bar??a.

This offering, to be concretized, will put the F.C. Barcelona at the front of the teams that have received more money for the sponsorship of their jerseys, the better paid club, presently in second place, the Bayern of Munich (Telekom) with 17M ???.

Not my best translation, but you should be able to get the point

Good choice by Apple I'd say.. They are arguably the hottest team in Europe today. Ronaldinho winning football player of the year and now Apple supporting them.. Things are looking good for Barcelona...

Yeah, that might be the first authentic jersey that I get apart from my "Beckham 7" one 3 years ago ;D

Wonder if Microsoft will take to sponsoring the Los Galacticos now?

I don't follow soccer that closely (would if they showed a lot of free games here but the Premier League package on Direct TV is like $200). But I really like the Barca crest. Use it as my avatar at a couple of other forums, even though I don't know who all their players are.

But Barca is a strange choice. Isn't Real Madrid more popular in Spain? Especially since it has the biggest stars?

Doesn't Man. U. and Beckham sell the most merchandise? I would think Apple would get more exposure on other clubs. Spain isn't even that big of a market for Apple. I would think UK, Germany or France would. Of course, Spanish soccer is pretty big. But UK has clubs with a huge following too.

Maybe Apple is after that Catalan money. ;D
