Design Classics

Arguably, the iPod is a design classic.

What would be your other three fave designs?

1) Lamborghini Muira
2) Empire State Building
3) The Bic Biro

There are a million others but these were the first three that popped into my head.

Great thread! Looking forward to seeing others' responses.

Here are the first three that hit me, without putting much thought into it:

Original VW Beetle
Charles & Ray Eames lounge chair
Lava Lamp (hey, I said I didn't put much thought into it!)

Altcountryman

I have to brag here - I've flown one! Not flown in one, but waggled the wheel and pushed the throttles!

Okay I thought long and hard about this one...

I'd have to vote (on the basis of the wow effect):

- the Pantheon
- the Red Blue chair by Rietveld (Ok I confess that was my hubby's choice, I'd have said anything by Bauhaus)

and...

the human body

Honorable mentions among buildings deserve:

Penn station (now demolished)
Tate Modern

It was an ex 'meat-hauler' flying back from Colombia (?) to the USA. I flew some circuits in it at Belize International in about 1986.

Hanging around the RAF enclave there in flying kit when the aircraft arrived got me the invite.
Being a young, stupid, aviation journo helped me say yes.
