Yesterday big news all manufactures except Apple will give their customers a break and all future device will use a standard micro-USB cable.
This is why I hate Apple, the way Apple thinks they got to control everything. Any really reason why they can not use mico-USB as well? |

This is why I hate Apple,
Well, it's today's headline, but tomorrow -- who knows? The GSMA is behind this latest announcement to standardize on a charger connection because the EU and China are threatening to make it a requirement; they want to look like they back a "one charger to rule them all" proposal. The announced GSMA target is for 50% of cell phones to have a micro-USB charge connector by 2012 -- not exactly a ringing endorsement. Why only 50%? Because high-speed data doesn't do well on micro-USB; two connectors would be needed. No carrier wants that; it's too delicate, too confusing. The EU and Chinese proposals are aimed at cheapie phones and the landfill waste of crap chargers. There will be lots of jockeying and lobbying and when the dust settles the requirement will only apply to bottom-tier phones. When something finally happens on this, Apple will p'bly just have to change their charge voltage requirements to fit the new universal charger output and offer a USB-to-micro adapter for charging only. Likewise RIM and their mini-USB connectors, and whoever else offers a dockable high-speed telecom device. |

I will have to see what this "standard plug" is first.
I mean if they give us a standard power plug and a separate data plug then that wouldn't be elegant. If u notice Apple is all about 1-cable elegance. Don't ask me about the RCA video thingy, I dunn wanna talk about it. Am all about saving the environment, but 2 cables will kill me.

Just start USB 3.0 that's more efficient.
Everything should be USB, even my HDMI cable should be USB, plus headphones. Regardless, why not just expand on the wireless premises, why have wires at all? |

Meanwhile, it's kinda silly everybody use a different plug. I've seen comercial chargers at the airport, they got a separate plug for every kind, just make me roll my eyes.
