Not trying to be a jerk here, but why do you need more than one?

Hi. I got my first Mini and 45 days later they came out with the Nano. Double the battery life and a lot smaller. Apple told me the cut off date for refunds and returns was 30 days. A few months later I got lucky at a casino and won more than I needed to get the Nano. Hence the Nano. This year with my birthday arriving and a library bigger than I thought I would ever have my family wanted to get me the 80 gig Classic. Who am I to say no. This past summer I come home from work and my wife has her car in the back yard. I say why is this here and she says so she can listen to her cds. So that explains the 4th I pod. I use the Mini in the car all day long as I am in sales and listen to mostly podcast. I use the Nano for workouts and general use around the house. I use the Classic for road trips or just when I am not sure what I want to listen to because it holds my library and the new Nano has all my wifes songs on it and I use that in the car when she is with me. Sorry for the long post and one is never a jerk when asking a legitiment question.

Let's see... 15GB iPod 3rd gen, 4GB mini 1st gen, 1GB shuffle 1st gen, 4GB nano 2nd gen, 80GB classic 1st gen, and 16GB touch 1st gen.
Quote:
Model: Usage(s) ========== 15GB iPod 3rd gen: backup portable Firewire drive (can directly boot a Mac) / nostalgia 4GB mini 1st gen: technically the wife's iPod. Used for fitness, general purpose listening, etc. 1GB shuffle 1st gen: fitness/running and USB drive (no dock or cable required!) 4GB nano 2nd gen: fitness/running, specifically for Nike+ use. 80GB classic 1st gen: day-to-day iPod, used for carrying whole library & high quality audio. 16GB touch 1st gen: portable web tablet, trial run for potential upgrade to an iPhone. Of those, only the nano, classic, and touch usually travel with me regularly. Ultimately, I had picked up the 2nd gen iPod touch with the idea of having it replace the nano, classic, and 16GB touch (my entire library fits on the 32GB version). Unfortunately, I wasn't all that comfortable using the touch while running (I prefer a "beater" iPod for that use), and I felt that the sound quality still wasn't quite up to par with the classic, irrespective of what the iLounge review says (the new nano, however, sounds fantastic). So, I've stuck with my mighty trifecta of iPods, with the old 3rd gen iPod and 1GB shuffle serving in lesser roles. |

I use different iPods for different things.
1 Gen White 1GB Nano- Listen to while mowing lawn and in gym. 3 Gen 40GB- Hooked up to my stero and when I get a car I'm going to put in their. 80GB Silver Classic- For everything else.

The household has four at the moment:
A 2G 1G shuffle that my 4 y.o. daughter uses. A 5G 60GB iPod that my wife uses. A 4G 16GB nano that I use. A 2G 8GB nano that I'll probably lend to iPodless friends so they can decide if this digital music thing is for them, later after my daughter learns to read, she can use it until it dies.
