As a proud owner of a Zune I must say:

Ipod Classic< Zune < Ipod Touch/Phone

Of course the more advanced touch screen devices would crush any competitor. Iphone/Touch is by far the best players on the market and way ahead of anything. I have no doubt I will more than likely get the next Itouch if it has improved memory. The thing I really don't like about the Zune is the display. It has a pretty low resolution for such a big screen and the glass seems to make everything darker than it really is when you watch videos and stuff. Overall I think the Zune's appearance looks much sexier than the Ipod and imo the Zunepad is way better for navigation compared to the Scrollwheel. Also I think the menus of the zune is much better than that of the Ipods. Zune also includes Wireless sharing and Radio and supports more file formats such as WMA Lossless. so. But Itouch is a keeper deffinately. I'm sold once a new model comes out

The thing that REALLY gets me about Ipods though, is the its back case. It scratches so easily its rediculouse. The Zune has a chrome matte finish so it doesn't scratch. and the zune is a beast- it can survive harsh beatings.

I had a Zune 80 for a bit. Sold it and bought an iPod Classic. I had difficulties syncing and it's pixel resolution looked horrible on the large screen. The sound quality and ear buds were amazing. In my opinion, the sound quality topped iPod definitely. The touch/swipe pad was nice and the large album art was nice. That's about it.

My iPod Classic has been working great. I prefer it over the Zune. Except my headphones put a scratch on the screen while in my pocket! Any solutions on fixing it?

Yeah I thought about zune then I saw one that wasn't only bulky but was an ugly brown. After thinking that I thought I bought something skinny sleek and more advance to my knowledge then a brownie like zune.

I am going to be buying a new MP3 player and I want either an 80GB zune or 80GB iPod classic. I ended up deciding on the iPod 80GB Classic... However I have now read about the new chip the classic uses that downgrades the audio quality and that 80GB Zune is starting to look mighty tempting.

If the Classic didn't have the downgrade in audio I would definitely go buy one right now.

Just beware. People may have been complaining about some things with iPods but the Zune is generally new. From what I have seen they still have a lot of problems. And the "Zune Player" on the computer(it's just windows media) sometimes is hard to navigate(at least for me when I downloaded it)

Although Microsoft does have a decent thing with the points sstem(gulp, wait I actually think it's decent, *runs*)

If you are going to get a Zune, wait about six months or how ever long it takes for things to get better.

The real question is Can the Zune compete with the iPod?

And the answer would be no.

I don't think at the moment, no.
The thing that puzzles me is they could've easily put a higher resolution on such a huge display so the menus don't look pixelated.
(And looking clean and neat on a mp3 player menu is important for me, as is capacity and battery.)
Though, having the non-scratch metal on the back is something the iPod doesn't.

Having had several different mp3 players, I have to say that the iPod/iTunes combination is a great package and is really easy to use. I have several iPods and they are more robust than many others. Besides the brown Zunes look like a pile of steaming feces. Microshaft could have done a better job selecting colors.

iPod+iTunes has a place in my heart.

my good friend bought it a Zune, its bulky, clunky, ugly, and has horrible battery life, not to mention the software took forever to install, and is almost impossible to use for the average customer.

iPod ftw.

Forever.
