Thumbs down RapidRepair? Beware!

I sent $180+ to Rapid Repair.com for a new hard drive for my defective 4G . The day after my order I emailed to cancel since my wife had given me a new Ipod. I was told that it had shipped, but that I should simply refuse the package once it arrived so it could be returned to Rapid Repair and I could be given a refund.

This was over a month ago. Since then, I have received neither the part nor the refund - and I am out almost $200. They have stopped replying to my emails and since I live in the Philipines, I will have to take time out from my life, fly down there and rescue the refund personally.

Everything on the site seems on the level, but I would go elsewhere with my money.

Where is Rapid Repair based? If it's in the US, it's probably not profitable to fly to America from the philipines just for a $180 refund.

Is it possible it was lost in the mail? Was it shipped with a tracking number or delivery confirmation?

FOLLOW UP - The original contact finally replied to tell me he had been on vacation, and that his co-workers could not acces his mail due to a glitch in the system. After much badgering, they have finally tracked down my package and sent me the UPS number.

Neon - Obviously I wasn't going to fly down to get my 180 bucks - that was the point I was making.

and it finally ends..

Here's how the story ends: despite UPS telling us that it had not yet been delivered, RapidRepair went ahead and refunded my payment.

As it turns out, the addressee had received the package, but under a different sender's name, and failed to recognize it.

In the end, we are shipping back a package that UPS says it didn't deliver, to a seller that refunded us before receiving a returned product. My hat's off to Rapid Repair for coming up with the ONE solution that made up for everything. As for UPS....well, we're sending it through good old Uncle Sam's Snail Mail.

In addition, I commend their customer service staff for recognizing the problem, and then acting on it.

I'm glad to see that everything worked out for you. We here at Rapid Repair try to work with customers to solve any problem that arises. I hope that this doesn't deter you from using our service again.....but next time, consider a different shipping company.

AVOID Rapid Repair For Repairs

I STRONGLY discourage using this company and RECOMMEND you go elsewhere for any battery replacement service. I messed up my original zune attempting to change out the battery myself (it requires soldering and not just a simple plug and play).

I ended up sending them my zune and they said my original zune was destroyed. I was willing to accept that since I made the mistake. I ordered a "refurbished" zune logic board replacement. The "reburbished" item was sent to me and the replacement zune connector was misaligned so it was impossible to insert the connector to sync my zune or recharge it.

I have been inserting iPods, zunes, and countless other electronic devices hundreds of times and I KNOW the correct way to insert it. They accused me of breaking that product.

I should have "recorded" the opening of the package and attempting to insert the Zune contact as "proof" that it was a pre-existing defect. I ended up taking a loss for that zune.

Ever since my experience with Rapid Repair, I've been leery of sending any product for a battery replacement service. This company would be the LAST one I'd send it to. Otherwise, when you get yours back and the connector is broken, they'll just accuse you of breaking it yourself. Save yourself money and use a different service. If you are brave enough to use their service, I STRONGLY recommend you videotape the process. Tape yourself opening the package and trying to gently insert the connector. Then when it doesn't work, call customer service (while videotaping) as proof that it is a pre-existing defect.

Happily contrasting experience

I have an older iPod mini 4gb that started working erratically - I have already replaced the battery once myself, but saw RapidRepair's website and decided to give them a try. I got a diagnosis within 48 hours, with an offer to replace the badly scratched aluminum case, the clickwheel and the battery for $60 - which I thought was a bargain! Got it back within another 48 hours, but - uh, oh - the clickwheel did not work. Called RapidRepair, they asked me to send it back, apologized, and within a week I have a perfectly functioning iPod mini.

I will enthusiastically support and recommend these folks.

Definitely a SCAM company. I got ripped of for $800. DO NOT USE this company for repairs or refurbished iPods (my case)

I am having my tech call you tonight at around 6PM EST (USA), Will you be available? We have tried reaching out to you regarding this order several times. It is not our intention to hold this device, we were simply waiting on a response from you. Please check your junk email filter as we have emailed you several times.
