Much has been said about sharing music on iPods. The most no-nonsense ways might be to just lend the device to another person, let them use your earphones for a while or let them plug in their phones to your iPod (iPod 'sex'
). But for the sake of marketing I think Apple is going to provide for a technological solution for those who want it.Very simply, the next generation of iPods are going to allow music to be shared between devices by wireless streaming. No matter what the track - protected or not - it can be accessed from another device and streamed wirelessly to it. Of course the client device won't be allowed to store the music but there are no other limitations: you can listen to as much as you like until the cows come home. Later improvements will allow sharing of video files. |
