Will there be a 5G after the 6G?

**Please choose the appropiate forum for this topic**

hi,
i have that question that bothers me for like weeks now...after the 6G is being out and actually manufactured, will there be a 5G?..or they will just discontinue it just like the mini?

another thing: how much space will the 6G is expected to hold?

thats because i really want a 5G..but the thing is ITS TOO expensive here in egypt...the 30GB here is for like LE2800/$465/245..but i dont have enough money.....and i was hoping that the 5G would still be there with a lower price...

Nobody really knows yet Its up to apple, really.

If it doesn't replace the 5G, I can't see the prices going down much. However, if it does.. Apple will probably stop selling it, but you'll be able to get them from other outlets at a reduced price. (So they can get rid of their stock)

Thats what happened with the 4Gs after the 5Gs came.

Keep in mind that the 6G may not even be a 6G. It could be a new product, maybe not even an iPod.

I think that it will be a video device and will probably carry the ipod name because "ipod" is so popular. Whenever Steve shows his new products he says how they are simple like the ipod trying to make a connection to help boost the sales.
I don't think it will be a 6g because the five has already comeout in the last 5 month and they usually wait a year.
Another thing is that they need to come up with a video dedicated device that can record tv and everything like the archos. They are $500 for a 30 gig and a 4" screen. http://archos.com/products/tv_centri...global&lang=en

well...but looking at the 7" archos 700..i'd say that this contraction is too much..i mean..i've seen the MSI Megaview 588...just like that archos 500...but with lesser memory and SD capable and with a mere 3.5" screen..and i was DAMN happy with this screen..

so i believe that the new 6G will be like 3.5"- 4"MAX

I think you can still buy some stock from stores for cheaper prices.

I think the video-device aims to a different target group and therefore the 5G will remain at least for some time just like the 4G existed along with the iPod Photo...
If demand for the 5G goes down they might replace it....

But I doubt it does that much.
Some people just want an mp3-player, which the 5G is mainly.
Others want a media-center... the 6G or iPod AV.

A device with such a big screen (touch-screen) as we suspect the 6G to be will not sell for the same price as the 5G.

Have you ever seen the Archos-thing live?
I hope the new iPod is better... it's about an inch deep and totally ugly...

i think apple's next release is that video ipod full screen rather than the 6G. but i wouldn't doubt that the video ipod wouldn't play music. however, it'll probably be bigger and weighs more. as for the actual 6G, i think most likely they will just reduce the size, add more storage space and battery life and that's it.

yeah..thats quite right, actually...maybe the new ipod will be a digital media center after all...keeping the 5G and announcing the new 6G as a digital media center that have a HUGE oppurtunity knocking off archos and creative...

well..i am a practical type of menz ..i dont care for the looks - that archos 700 may look like some kinda artifact..but it is SURE a contraction! i do care more about the specifications & usability..then comes the looks...

well...these fakes of the 6G ipod are cool enough to make anybody happy...the ipod MUST NOT BE REDUCED!..yet they HAVE to increase the battery lifetime..esp that the lifetime of the ipod when playing video is 3 hrs...which what makes it the bottom of the chart as a "digital media center", yet creating a new type of gadgets that "is not a DMC, nor an MP3 player"..(DMCMP3 maybe?) suitable for video clips and for pplz who have a car charger as a nice and small DMC...

i think the so-called iPod Av will be the main iPod, with (hopefully) a revial of the mini which plays videos, or something. ahh, that would be great.
