My Predictions:

The 20 GB 5g iPod will be 300 (that's a given)
The 8 GB mini (w/ color) will be 250
The 6 GB mini (w/ color) will be 200
A 2 GB flash line will be released for 150 (which will sell like hotcakes with the younger crowd)
The 1 GB shuffle will be bumped down to 100 and the 512 Mb will be bumped down to 80, or simply discontinued

That's not true. There is a 6GB Zen Micro available and it's about on par with the $$ of the iPod mini but with more features and a user replaceable battery.

Sorry I didn't know about the Zen... I thought it was 5GB like the iRiver!

Droping the 512GB would be a huge mistake!
This one sells very good!
1GB is a bit too much without a screen!

What doesn't sell that well are 1GB shuffles, 6GB minis and 60GB iPods!
I'm refering to my boyfriend here... who sometimes sells about 15 iPods a day (and this is not the only thing he has to sell)
But this only means that the bigger iPod-modells are aimed to a smaller target-group!

Otherwise your price-concept sounds good!
While I'm still not sure how good the 8GB mini would sell!

I love the idea of a "iPod Flash" with a screen!
They'd really sell very good at a price of 150!
I'd buy one immediatly (of course I wouldn't get one immediatly because they would be sold out very soon)

Imagine the possibilities...

It seems to me like the iPod shuffle is headed towards a price-drop the way the 4GB iPod mini did with the release of the 6GB version. If the 1GB shuffle drops to the price of the 512MB shuffle, the 1GB shuffle will sell better than the 512MB shuffle does now.

I think the 512MB version has a good chance of getting discontinued. If not, then I supposed it would sell like wildfire after a hefty price drop. At that point, most people who didn't pay attention to the shuffle before would figure that the lack of a screen would be forgiveable at that price range.

If the price for the 512MB shuffle would only go down to $80, like danielomg predicted, I'm betting the 1GB shuffle would outsell it. Pay an additional $20 and get double the space? Who wouldn't pay that?

I agree on with you, Kevlar on the point that you made about the 512MB Shuffle being dropped to $80.

However, on every other point, I think danielomg's predictions sound pretty logical and I could picture them coming true.

A 6gb for 250 cdn is fairly good. Same price as current 4 gb. I think i'd buy a 1 gb shuffle if it was 100$ cdn

People made the same arguments about the original 4 GB Mini vs. the 15 GB iPod.

Well the Mini sold like crazy, as people valued the size and the colors over the disk capacity.

Some analyst said a Mini with a color screen would be a home run this Xmas. Imagine more teeny-boppers demanding their new Color Screen Mini.

Yeah, I would buy an iPod mini if it came with an adaptor... and if it had a color screen, and maybe it was a little bigger and cost $50 more..... wait.

Give it 10-15GB of HDD space, color screen, and still have 15-18 hour battery and I'm sold.

15gb HD ipod mini will probaly come out in 2008 along with the 20gb ones. Battery life will probaly be really high by 2008 so that not something to worry about.

I think 8-10GB for this year (2006). Then 15-20GB in 2007.

With the announcement of the new 2 and 4 GB "nano"...and the supposed "retiring" of the 4 and 6 GB mini...

Do any of you think that a 10 GB (or so) iPod is more likely?

I've have a 20 GB iPod for over a year...but I lost it, so I need to get a new one. Unfortunately, I need at least 8 GB or so...which means I'm kinda stuck. I realize that it's not much more money to just get the 20 GB (instead of downgrading to a mini or waiting for a 10 GB one)...but I would kinda like to have an iPod that's a little smaller (especially if I'm not even using half the space on the thing).
