Wait until your old enough, or move from the states.

The law's there for a reason.

i cant believe you have to be 21 in the states to buy booze. They'll send you to war at 18, but you can't have a drink...makes absolutely no sense to me.

Why would you want to drink in the first place? An occasional wine for maybe religious purposes is one thing, but many alcoholic beverages can be disgusting. Also, drinking a lot of alcohol is not something to be proud of. One drink too far could have you in jail.

Makes perfect sense to me...I'm a 31 year-old vet. Most kids are 18ish when they signed their enlistment paper...you know, the paper where they sign their lives away??? Why would you want to add alcohol to someone willing to do something that irrational?

Seriously, once you're in a lot of VFWs and American Legions around bases have bars with bands and as long as you're not making a fool out of yourself while you're in their place, they don't really check for ID.

Anyway, are you enlisted? I think only enlisted 18 year-olds should be able to use that line and everyone else can get in line behind them.

Buy it. If they ask for ID, walk away. If they don't, drink up and be merry.

And the drinking age of 21 is so backwards is just not funny. Any argument on the topic is void.

Agree with Adam. If they ask just say you left it in the car .. and then go.

We can drink from 18 here but I have been drinking since I was 16.

Back then you could get away with it !!

I used to drink a bit when I was 18 - 20 .. but now only an odd drink at a wedding, party or concert. Nothing over the top.

I think that by telling you not to do something ... makes kids want to do it even more.

I don't condone drugs though. That really screws with the mind !!

Moderation ... is the key.

Here, here!

A spot of Port every now and then is quite enough for me.

And I don't understand posters that come to a public forum asking what would happen if they broke such-and-such law...

Just wait until you're 21, or ask your parents if they would be willing to let you have some to try, under their supervision.

Most kids will want to try having a few drinks well before the age of 21 which is I believe is a stupid rule. 18 in Australia is a good age.

You can't just say .... don't drink. They want to try it, like we did, like the future kids will do. Some people may not .. that's fine but the majority of people have experienced alcohol or would want to.

If we hide these things from them they will just break laws to get it and end up in more trouble .. like taking trips to Mexico just to binge drink.

I'm surprised at both of you! You are reccomending that someone should break the law. Can you imagine the type of trouble he would get into if he was caught?

So let's play it that he manages to leave the store without being caught. We don't know this guy, so for all we know he could drink loads and then drive. You can say moderation is the key, or 'It's called self control', but some people just don't have that. If things work the way you say they should work, then everyone should have self control, right? So, we should never see another drunk in the street again, right? No, because not everyone has self control, and you just reccomended this guy to break the law, and possibly get himself in either a lot of trouble, crash, or just something along the lines of that.

I dissapointed in you, and I think you should be ashamed of yourselfs.

And I HOPE, that if this guy gets into trouble -- be it with the law, parents or if he crashes -- then I hope that you have a consciounce for that.

Jimas21, don't drink. Why are you in such a rush? What's the point when you are at that age. It's not cool to get drunk, and you won't like the morning after either.

So wait till you're old enough, alchohol will still be there in a few years time.

I didn't say go out and get wasted and then drive a car.

If the guy is 19 and wants to watch a movie and have a few beers I don't see a problem with that.

Its the idiots high on drugs that are causing more problems than 19 year olds that want to drink.

Something tells me if he has reached this age and he is only interested in a bit of alcohol .. he is responsible enough.

Aussies are big drinkers ... note the 2 posters are both Aussies

And another thing - people with no self-control DON'T NEED ALCOHOL - they can cause grief without it as easy and they can with it.
