i-pod Equaliser

Is it just me or is the equaliser on the i-pod rubbish??

I've flicked mine through all the settings and the sound difference is barely noticable. Is this because i have recorded my music at a low bitrate (64 kbps) or is it just a crap EQ????

It's kinda rubbish. Only setting that is a lil' bit ok is "Rock" but I always have it turned off anyways.

There's clearly some kind of an audible difference between the settings, but in the interest of battery life I leave the EQ off. I can't confirm this myself, not having used it for prolonged periods, but apparently to some people the degradation caused by the EQ is quite unacceptable...

You can't say that its rubbishunless you have tested each one in every type of situation. Personally, I like the sound when I add bass or put on one of the generic EQ's. I listen to Rap, techno and Jazz and Im possitave that I have had no problems with the eq.

I use the jazz setting since that's about 80% of what is on my ipod. To me it made a difference in the sound quality. I have my mp3's ripped at 160.

Not true. If the wanted EQ setting isn't what I desire it to be [or plain just not sounding "good"] then it's rubbish to me even tho maybe the Jazz setting is working perfectly for somebody else.

It's all just a matter of pov and [therefore] it's all subjective.

It would be much better if in the next software release, Apple would let us make our own equalizer settings like in WinAmp or iTunes.... that way, I can turn the bass ALL the way up, instead of using that weak "bass boost" preset.
