Question iTunes Re-Downloaded old song automaticlly. Repalced original. Wrong Song!

I just experienced something extremely strange I don't even understand or believe. I open iTunes and purchased a "Train" song I heard earlier. As the song was downloading, I went to view downloads and seen 2 songs downloading. One was the Train song and the other was "Steal My Sunshine" by "Len". I downloaded the Len song back in 2009 and for some reason iTunes randomly re-downloaded it automatically Updated+Moved or replaced and deleted the original download of it.

I went to my library when the songs were done downloading and found the Lem song says "Date Added: 2/18/2009" "Date Modified: 8/1/2011". I checked my purchase history and it has all my recently purchases but nothing about re-buying the Len song so my account wasn't hacked. To make it even more strange the song is not actually "steal my sunshine"! Its now (according to the SoundHound app on my phone) "I Like It by The Blackout Allstars". I checked the ID3 tags and they are normal but the album art now includes both the correct album art and This. Its file is now located under "iTunes\iTunes Music\Compilations\'80s & '90s Dance Hits"

I can not figure out WTF happen. Can anyone make sense of it?

Len song

I just noticed I have the exact same problem with the exact same song. How did you get it fixed?

I think at first apple thought I was kidding. I got a silly simple email explaining how downloading works. Then I responded expressing just how serious I am and that its not a joke. They gave me a song credit but said it doesn't make any sense.

I'd like to think someone just blew something on Apple's end. No, seriously, problably someone sorted something wrong. Really wrong.

I don't know how it works with music, but I know that when I update an app, the old version shows up in my computer's recycle bin. If you haven't emptied yours, you could look in there for the original file.

Or, now with iCloud you can download your past purchases for free, any time. Go ahead and rename the new track to what it actually is, then in iTunes (or on iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch if you have one) go to iTunes Store, and select "Purchased" from the quick links menu on the right (iTunes -> More -> Purchased from an iPad/Phone/Touch). Search up your song and see if it says "Downloaded" or if it has the little cloud icon. If it has the icon, just click it to download. If it thinks it's still on your computer, it might be seeing the new one even though you renamed it (I've not had to do this myself, so I'm just making educated guesses here. Post back if you try this and let me know how it works?). Try deleting that, then (you might have to restart iTunes and/or log out and back into your store account) checking again.
