In my library in itunes, a lot of songs have a "!" next to the song. Is this because I took my mp3s off a cd that i made for backup, and moved them to the ipod? I am assuming that I cant play them from the libary in itunes because the cd isnt in, but since i updated them to the ipod, they should be on there...

"!" means the original file isn't there anymore.
But you should be able to play them from your ipod. Make sure you have selected your ipod's library when using iTunes.

It does mean the file is not there anymore .. in your itunes folder.
I'm not 100% sure but I think next time you sync your ipod they will not play on there either. You need to import the songs into itunes. It sounds like maybe you just played them in intunes without actually importing them. A few happened like that to me too. I just imported them again. What you need to do is import those songs back in .. and then to check you are getting it right ... just click "Get Info" on the song and it should show where the file is located and "itunes" folder should be in the name somewhere with the other details such as artist/album etc. |
