Every song that I upload to my Ipod has the artist name in front of it, I don't know how to get my Ipod to stop doing this. Does it have something to do with my IDD3 tags or what? None of them have the artist name in the title of the file, and none of them are combined in the IDD3 tags, hopefully someone has the answer to this frustrating problem.

Mine did the same thing.. Apparently, the song names you see on the iPod are the same as the ones you see in iTunes (not strictly the ID3 tags)... I have no idea why my iTunes imported them like this (about half of my songs by one artist were just the song names, then half were "Artist - Song" as the name).. It was very annoying though, because then the iPod would have to scroll through the artist name then the song title just to see the actual song title..
Anyways, I reimported my entire library (I had the mp3 files in a folder on my computer, so I didn't have to rip the CD's again), and this time it did them all the right way.. Next time I auto-synced, it transfered about 500 songs (all the ones that were messed up), and it was fixed.. Annoying to be sure, but it seems to be fixed now, and is importing new songs correctly as well. |

It keeps happening with my library as well. I have been searching for a fix for a long time. I am just about ready to give up on the ipod +itunes. The way I worked around it was to play the song within itunes. Once I do that it just shows the song title. But I have ripped all my music and I have 190Gigs in my library and I just can't put up with it much longer.

The solution should be as simple as:
1) Selecting all the songs in your iTunes library. 2) Go to the Advanced menu and select the Convert ID3 Tags... option. 3) Click the ID3 tag version: box and then select v2.4 from the pulldown menu. 4) Click OK.

If you have been a winamp user in the past and have .m3u files in your MP3 folders, these files can sometimes affect how iTunes displays the tags in iTunes. If you can, just delete these files from your folders and as you play the songs in iTunes, they should revert to as they should be.
