Music Store, not available to...

...your country.

This really sucks. I live in Sweden (one of the most broadband dense countrys in the world) and still, no Music Store for us. I have emailed Apple a couple of times asking about IF they are planning to release Music Store for Sweden... but no replies...

Why these dumb country specific shops? Why? The Internet is international, there is no Swedish, English, German or Dannish section on the Internet.

Is there some legal issues stopping Apple making Music Store available for ALL the worlds music listeners? Because the credit card billing issues are almost gone now with iTunes supporting PayPal.

Can somebody answer my questions? Because Apple is apparently to busy. Will there be an Swedish Music Store? Can I "trick" the Music Store in beliving that I'm an american resident? Why can't they make it international?

I want to buy some tunes now...

While the Internet is global in nature, the recording industry and copyright laws are not (at least, not yet). Apple has to negotiate copyright agreements in each specific country where they want to make the iTunes Music Store available.

It has nothing to do with ecommerce issues, per se (as you've pointed out, credit card billing and currencies issues are easily overcome). Basically it just has to do with local copyright laws concerning the resale of digital music online.

I know that in Canada, the iTunes Music Store only came online back in early December of 2004, despite having been available in the U.S. for well over a year prior to that. Other countries are having similar issues.

The short answer is that only Apple can say what their plans are for an iTunes Music Store in Sweden, or any other country for that matter.

The only other ones that are rumoured to be in the works right now are Japan and Ireland.

Thanks for the answer jhollington. Now I know that it's all about copyright agreements. That really explains a lot. All left to do is wait... and I am a very impatient person.

And "bypassing" the country-lock is not an option at all, unless I have an relative living in a Music Store-verified country... meh...
