convert many ALL songs from AAC to MP3

Hi. I would like to collect ALL my songs in AAC format to MP3. I know how to do this song by song. Is there a way to do it all at once?

Thanks.

change your defaul importer to MP3 in iTunes preferences, create a smart playlist where "kind contains AAC", select all those songs, and select Convert To MP3 in the Advanced menu.

You're going to lose quality going from lossy to lossier, though.

Thanks, I did that but it only shows 14 gigs out of over 53 gigs that I have in iTunes... any idea why?

Thanks.

I went ahead and just selected the whole library. Question... when it converts them to MP3 the AAC's still stay there, right? Or do I need to backup first? Will the MP3s go to another directory? I want to keep the AAC but want to backup the whole thing so I want the whole library converted to MP3 and deposited into another directory. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

The converted files will end up in the same iTunes Library, they will not replace the AAC files. So you should see two versions of each song when you're done.
