To save space on my computer, i delete the songs after i put them on my ipod. The problem with this is that it will not let me then create playlists with those deleted songs. Is there any way i can get around this? Does this mean i can't make playlists anymore?

You can create playlists still, but you have to have your iPod connected at the time. Just highlight the iPod in the device section and select new "smart" or regular playlist and create the list.

That still doesn't work because it won't allow me to drag those songs onto the playlist. Am i doing something wrong?

You have to drag and drop to playlists on the iPod itself.
In manual mode notice that there is now an arrow next to your iPod. Clicking on it will show the playlists on the iPod. This is where new playlists you make need to be. Here you should be able to drag songs from the iPod library to these songs. You will not be able to drag these songs to playlists in iTunes. The iPod must be selected while doing this. Stuart

It still doesn't work!!! When the ipod is plugged in, and selected under source, the songs are grey and i am not even able to click on them. I'm sorry, but i don't understand how i am supposed to make playlists like this; please be very specific. ( i am a windows user if that makes a difference)

if the songs are greyed out that means you're still in Auto Sync. Go to Edit>Preferences, click on the iPod tab, and change it to Manual Update. Then you can make playlists by selecting thew iPod in iTunes.

I guess the assumption was since you had said you were deleting songs off your hard drive that you were already on manual syncing...
You must have deleted the songs from the hard drive and not from iTunes as if they were out of iTunes completely you would have lost your songs. I'd read up about manual updating if I were you to prevent confusion and potential loss of your music collection. Stuart
