Burn limit clarification

I'm a bit confused about burn limits. I read threads in this forum that refer to a maximum of 7 times per song that is downloaded from iTunes.

Is each individual song limited to 7 copies? I ask this because the iTunes help information says, "If the playlist contains any songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store, you can only burn the playlist seven times. " Does that mean that only the same playlist can't be burned more than 7 times? Can I have the same song appear on 8 diferent playlists and burn 8 CDs?

BTW, who keeps track of all this stuff?

basically yeah, the same playlist can not be burned more then 7 times, so if you take the songs and shuffle them around, I think you'd be able to burn them more then that

The restriction is there to prevent someone from taking a playlist of purchased songs and burning 100 copies and distributing them. So the same playlist (that contains purchased songs) can only be burned seven times. Change the order or move some songs off and/or bring new ones on more burns can be acheived.

This is kept track of within the song file through the DRM attached to it when downloaded from the iTMS.
