New iPodder/iTuner Help!!

Hey all,

I just got my Ipod 3 days ago...boy was i excited, im in school so i dont have alot of time to tinker with it alot, but on the first day i did use itunes for about 2-3 hours trying to figure it out, alot of reading finally did help me figure most things out but, maybe not as well as i should. Espically when it comes to the itunes library and how that works. I still dont know what its talkin about. Maybe someone can help me after i tell them what i would like to see happen for my ipod.

My defualt Itunes folder is in F:\Terry\My Music\iTunes.

All my music is in F:\Music
and then in sub folders according to genre (eg F:\MUSIC\Alternative, F:\MUSIC\Rap etc..)

I dont want anything changed in my F:/Music folder because both my brother and I use that folder and he doesnt use an ipod and doesnt want to use Itunes but rather winamp(so i didnt make Itunes default music player..)

Anyways knowing where my Itunes folder is how do i move my files into my itunes folder without actually screwing around with my F:\MUSIC folder. and have them on my ipod. i rather have something go wrong with the itunes folder then my Music folder. Itunes is being really troublesome for me, im just not getting it. Any help on where to start would be great. Any advice on other peoples settings/options/preferences theyve chosen would be great to hear to.

Also when i was playing around with itunes, it seperated all my RAP folder into all the different artists? what did i do? how to i reverse that? I had to end up going through each folder and putting the mp3 back into my Rap folder. Oy!

Another thing that happened.. usually when i name my songs. I name them Artist - Title of Song. I put a few songs in my ipod earlier, then emptied it. anyways when i went back into the folder alot of the songs had [01 Title of Song ] this kinda format. where my artist name is now replaced with a number? it went up to 14 and about 30 of 55 songs were affected. Anyone know whats up?


Anyways thanks all for the help in advance i know its a long message, i just dont wanna get frustrated with Itunes, and want to learn it way better, but the library is confusing me and the help topics dont seem to ease the confusion. Thanks all
