iPod not showing up in the Source column

i'm using iTunes 4.5 and whenever i connect my iPod, it will pop up briefly in the Source column and then disappear. i've updated my iPod software, thinking that would help, but it didn't.

previously, i used WinAmp and had no problems. Can anyone give me some ideas on what the problem might be? i'm using a 15G iPod.

thanks!

Very strange. If you have activated your iPod as HDD, when your iPod is connected can you see it via the windows explorer ?
