iTunes prevents computer from going to sleep

While iTunes is playing music, I cannot put my computers to sleep!

I put both my laptop and desktop computers to sleep rather than shutting down so that when I turn them back on, it takes 5 seconds to get back up and running. With previous versions of iTunes, I could put them both to sleep while music was still playing. But with version 4.5, the sleep command does not work. I have to pause/stop the song in iTunes first, and then put them to sleep.

What's up with that? I don't have any other program or drivers that cause sleep problems. Yet Apple can cause one like no other. If it was intentional, it doesn't make any sense either, because with laptops you can set the option for what Windows should do when you close your laptop, and on a desktop you don't press the sleep button unless you want it to sleep.

Odd.

I'm sure it wasn't intentional... that'd be ridiculous.

Send in feedback to Apple... Hopefully they'll fix it next time around.

Decoding audio during sleep mode kinda kills the purpose of sleep no?

No, sleep/standby means the computer turns off everything except power continues to be supplied to RAM, so when you turn it back on it instantly goes back to where you left off....a la iPod.
