archive iTunes settings and library

I'm building a new computer (Windows) and do not want to migrate over my iTunes setup from the old computer since I almost never play music from it anymore. It's a 120 GB library, no purchased content/media, 30 to 40 playlists and multiple iOS device settings & backups. How do I archive this setup, so that if I needed to make it live again I can restore it to it's full current state?

If all of your music in in the iTunes folder structure, then backing up the iTunes folder is really all you need.

If your music is elsewhere, then you'll need to back that up AND your iTunes folder.

You can save some space if you are on iTunes 12.7 or later by deleting the Mobile Applications folder under the iTunes folder.
If you are on pre-12.7, then you'll also want to download the installation media for your version from a site like oldversion.com or filehippo.com.

The iOS backups will be useless since they will change so quickly being used.
If you want them, they are on your C drive C:\Users\<login>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup and are quite large.

The iTunes preferences is also on your C Drive C:\Users\<login>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml the rest of that folder structure is not needed.

I don't recommend not having iTunes around with devices that need to be synced and backed up. I suppose you will be better off than the usual crowd that does this since you will have your original library and won't be forced to erase and sync to recover.

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....
