Stopping iTunes from automatically changing place when new song comes on

When a song ends while playing on iTunes, it automatically continues to the next song in the list. But when you've changed place in the song list, it automatically reverts up (or down) to wherever the next song is located.

For example, if you're currently listening to Beethoven but editing an album by Miles Davis, when the song ends, iTunes automatically returns to the Bs. I find this annoying. Is there a way to stop iTunes from automatically changing place when a new song comes on?

I have the latest version of iTunes running on Windows 10.

Thanks for reading/responding.

If you are in the same playlist, then no, you can't change the behavior. You should be able to edit a different playlist than you are editing. Try creating a new playlist of the tracks you want to hear, listen to that, then edit a different playlist.

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....
