Import a TXT or CSV playlist to ITUNES - fail

Have some external files with PLAYLISTS of songs that I want to import into ITUNES. These playlists do not have associated music, but do have the artist name and song name only.

Of course know that ITUNES needs to have the songs exist, and my library has a pretty good diversity. So have a good chance that at least 50% of the songs will match.

Its just that ITUNES does not seem to recognize a TXT or a CSV file that I try to import. Have looked at exported ITUNES playlists, to see about the format, but have not really made any progress with that.

Does anyone know of a tool, or have you had success with import of a CSV file list of songs into ITUNES? Where ITUNES matches the song and creates a playlist?

Will comment back with what did not work for me as reference later.

1) Tried an application called STAMP but that only works if you have an APPLE MUSIC account for $10 a month. Have not subscribed to any service yet.

2) Tried a website called soundiiz.com to import *.M3U files and convert to CSV or TXT which works great for exporting something, but does not work to create something that ITUNES can import.

3) Reviewed various other notes around the internet, where no one mentions trying to import TXT playlist into ITUNES, where ITUNES tries to match what you have to the list. You would think this would be possible.

4) Also looked around for some M3U file editor that allows easy GUI working with the M3U files to see if that could be made to create files that ITUNES will try to match. Have not found any such good tool. Working on the WINDOWS 10 platform so you would think I have a few solutions to try, but no luck.

5) Can export playlists from ITUNES to SPOTIFY and to GOOGLE MUSIC but sure can not drag them back into ITUNES.

There is an import command for importing playlists.
File->Library->Import Playlists and it does accept text files.

The text file is specific set of data. If you export a playlist you'll see what it requires.

Here is the header:
Name Artist Composer Album Grouping Genre Size Time Disc Number Disc Count Track Number Track Count Year Date Modified Date Added Bit Rate Sample Rate Volume Adjustment Kind Equalizer Comments Plays Last Played Skips Last Skipped My Rating Location

Each column is separated by a single tab, and you'll need data every column to get the record to load.

Dates are formatted as: 3/23/2014 11:01 AM
Size is in bytes, actual size not size on disk.
Time is in seconds: 250 = 04:10
Kind is a text string: "Purchased AAC audio file" or "AAC Audio File" without quotes
Rating is number of stars * 20: 40 = 2 stars, 80 = 4 stars

The song file needs to exist in your library.

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....

That sounds very cumbersome to work out for input to ITUNES with playlist. Was also looking at a another tool MUSCONV that exports CSV files, but not sure if a CSV can work well with iTunes.

You can always load CSV data into a spreadsheet and covert it into Tab Separated Values (Text) for import if iTunes can't support CSV.
