Usually the cause of this is security software is silently blocking iTunes access to the store.

Check your firewall and virus scanner to see that iTunes v11 is allowed to use the internet.

You go into your windows firewall and add iTunes 11 to the list of applications that are allowed to access the Internet. Google is your friend.

Because it is Microsoft and their stuff does random stuff like this. Norton does it too.

Well the WOW64=1 and the fact that the iTunes.exe is in Program Files not Program Files (x86) means you may have downloaded the 32 bit version of iTunes on a 64 bit computer.

I would uninstall this version, download the 64 bit version and install it.

Well, I don't think I mentioned the drive letter, but you can if you'd like.

The versions look right. Nothing looks out of place.
If it still crashes, I would uninstall and reinstall.

ok. i uninstalled iTunes, shut down, started up, re-installed iTunes. no joy. it still crashes when i click store. it seems to get to the store for 5 - 10 seconds and then the "iTunes has stopped working" message box comes up.

some other background:
when ever i get an update message, the update doesn't work and i follow the instructions to download and install manually. the download contains 6 files:

AppleApplicationSupport.msi
AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
iTunes64.msi
QuickTime.msi
QuickTimeInstallerAdmin.exe
SetupAdmin.exe

when i run SetupAdmin.exe nothing happens, so i run iTunes64.msi and the install proceeds normally.
any suggestions?

Do you use Genius? In an older post I found that someone fixed this by deleting their genius database.
The name is iTunes Library Genius.itdb

i don't use genius, but i do have 'iTunes Library Genius.itdb'. i deleted it and started iTunes. it took a lot longer than normal to start. it still crashed when going to the store. also a new 'iTunes Library Genius.itdb' was created.

That is normal

Can you update to 11.0.2? There were some stability fixes, but they may not help you.

Do you use Genius? In an older post I found that someone fixed this by deleting their genius database.
The name is iTunes Library Genius.itdb
I have been following this thread because I have the same problem. So far none of the solutions have helped me either. Bummer.

You may need to follow the steps in the first post:
Now, the issue is that this file is involved in the famous Duqu flaw in Windows (Duqu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and MS issued a temporary fix to lock access to this file to prevent the exploit back in 2011. An update has since been released through Windows Update and once it is applied, this fix is safe to undo according to the Microsoft info at these links:

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS11-087 - Critical : Vulnerability in Windows Kernel-Mode Drivers Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2639417)

Enable/disable here (linked from the above page):

MS11-087: Vulnerability in Windows kernel-mode drivers could allow remote code execution: December 13, 2011

Scroll down and use the FixIt links to enable/disable.
Use the FixIt link on this page and disable the fix to get your iTunes Store working again.
