Hi Folks,
Bit of a conundrum and was wondering could one of your nice people possible steer me before I make a complete mess of things. I have iTunes in my study and home and have iTunes match with most of my content now uploaded to the cloud. This is the host location of my main library which is connected via external HDD on my laptop. I have however about 200 files that I cannot upload at home because there are too large, 150Mb to 180mb and my internet connection is simply not good enough to help me get them up into the cloud. So, my idea was as follows— I have installed iTunes on my pc at work which has a much quick internet connection and upload speed. I have signed in via iTunes to my account on my work pc and also added iTunes match etc. My thinking is that if I upload all the larger files at my work, I can then go home and see them in my library and simply download them to my host PC at home via the icloud symbol as I should also see these files in my library? I haven’t done this yet, why? Ok, I suppose I’m concerned that if I run Match on my work computer and upload the bigger files, it will match this library and replace the one that I have already in the cloud, even though I’m using the same Apple id? Can this happen? I got a message on the screen that match was already running on another pc, (that is correct as I left my home pc running this morning to complete some small uploads). It then goes onto say cannot match more than one library at a time etc. That’s fine I won’t match in work until complete at home. I suppose this message in addition is making me nervous as it would be a hell of a big loss of the existing cloud if I somehow managed to replace it by uploading these 100 larger files at work. The fact that I have installed iTunes on my work PC, signed in and although all my music is in the cloud, none of the playlists are shown is causing me to hold off in case something isn’t just right? Hope this makes sense as ideally I’m simply looking to bring everything together in the cloud and also have a hard copy of the larger files download through my pc at home. Appreciate your input folks as I would love to get my cloud fully complete with all my music, but want to make sure I don’t wipe a load in the process! Thanks Simon. |
