I am nearly in tears. I am extrordinarily picky about the way I organize my libary-no excess tags, albums are pirstine, everything has artwork, etc. I d/l'd 11, and it has been the bane of my existence for 2 days.
I don't listen to music by artist. I choose songs I like, I'm not a die-hard Beatles fan or anything. And iTunes 11 organizes albums by Artist (or, more accurately, album artist-a tag I have in the past refused to use) So all my albums are split up into 10 different albums and alphbetized by the varying artists. I've tried to track them down and make the album artist be the album title, so it'll be in alphebetical order by album like I want it. I then went to search for the Proclaimers, and the band won;t show up. Turns out, since the album artist field is now the album title, iTunes refuses to find the band, even though the artist tag is correct. I am literally nearly sobbing. Is there any way yet to fix this? I need my albums tab organized by album name, and everything belonging in one album go together, regard;ess of artist. I've tried the Compliations thing (which I also hate), and now the albums go under "Various Arist" which is almost worse, and it still won't alphbetize properly. Can anyone help? PLEASE! |

iTunes 11 has not organized by album artist for me, just artist. I only use the album artist entry when I have compilations such as soundtracks or live festival albums. Other than that, everything is alphabetized by artist and then albums by that artist. You can change the view back to the old list without the album art. Even with the new view, sorting by album title really sorts every album alphabetized regardless of artist.

I did a lot more digging, and found my answer (thank GOD!): Hit Control+J in Album view, and then you can choose how to sort. Hallejuiah!

Thanks for the tip!
The more i learn about iTunes 11, the less I loathe it. Not saying I am getting near liking it, but I am a lot closer to NOT loathing it.
