iTunes 11: Track Order not Correct in Album View

When I click on the album cover, a lot of the tracks in many of my albums are arranged out of their correct order even though they are numbered.
Is there a way to fix this?

I tried different sort options in the list (Songs) view but they do not affect the way album view lists the tracks.

I've got the same issue in Albums, Artist and Genre views, but the songs view sorting works fine.

I've never had the issue before and even did a clean install of ML last night and still have the same issue. Very frustrating!

Any ideas?

Check you have the same exact same information for Album Artist for each track of an Album. iTunes groups common Album Artists in an Album irrespective of track number when there is different information.

I figured out the problem on my end, none of my tracks were tagged with the track number. I had the track number as part of the title, but didn't have the separate track number tag populated.

I used a script to populate the track number tag and that resolved the issue. However, it's still dumb of Apple to design the sorting this way, if I select the option to sort by title then it should sort by title, not some other field, in this case track number.
