continuous play of a song

With iTunes 10, one song keeps playing continuously, from the beginning of the song to the end of the song. My wish is that iTunes would play one song from the beginning to the end then play the next song in the playlist or in the music library.

If someone could say whether I would be able to change an option so that iTunes would play one song from the beginning to the end then play the next song in the playlist or in the music library -- feel free to answer this post.

Is there a check box beside the songs names and is it checked? If it is not checked check them to play tracks sequentially. If the box is not visible set the option in iTunes Preferences/General and check "Show list checkboxes".

I looked in Preferences>General and found Show List Boxes checked.

So, could some other option affect playback?

I have verified the behavior I mentioned in my first post: Songs keep repeating themselves.

The boxes under the check mark are all checked.

Check and see if the repeat is on under control on the iTunes toolbar. If so, turn it off.

Are any of the icons in the lower left of iTunes hi-lit, the 2 "looped" arrows in particular?

This is the "Repeat control which would cause a track to repeat if played from the library. If a track is played in a playlist the playlist would repeat.

"Yes," the repeat on the iTunes toolbar was apparently on. I clicked on the repeat icon on the iTunes toolbar. It turned from a blue color to a grey color.

Now one song plays after the other.
