Major iTunes Update Coming(?)

I have heard that there is a major iTunes update on the way. Can someone please confirm whether this is correct, and if so when is it due; or, has it already occurred?

iTunes 11 was originally advertised as "coming in October", now it's "coming in November". No-one but Apple knows when it exactly is coming out. I won't be surprised if it's delayed further if they still haven't finished working on it.

And while they're calling it a major update, to me it looks all like cosmetics, pointlessly removing the side menu and adding in a million more ways to advertise their store (which I don't use). It's also a major opportunity for Apple to break something else. No one knows how the final product is going to behave until we get our hands on it.

Like Savannah said, it IS coming, but exactly when is unknown.

What is known is that it's chock full of a bunch of changes that no one has been asking for and, if screen shots are any indication, is going to make it nearly useless if there isn't some way to revert it to the sorted list that's been the single useful way of displaying your media library for nigh ten years no matter what silly toys Apple has added (that I promptly turned off)

I'm withholding judgment til it's actually on my computer, but I'll be backing up 10.7 and the library .itl file before I install it as I have suspicion that iTunes 11 is going to be my Apple straw.
