I understand that when itunes plays a song, it increases play count by one and keeps the last played date. I was wonderign if the first and any intermediate playtimes are also recorded somewhere? If not is there any way to know?

There is no way to know anything other than the last played date/time (and the date/time that the song was added to your library).
