I've downloaded some music tracks from Youtube using a converter which is an addon to Firefox and added them to itunes. These are tracks from albums not video tracks.
My son wanted some of them to put on his laptop so burned them to CD and checked "include Track Info" but when he tried to import them none of the track info was there just track 1, track 2 etc. Is this a common thing with Youtube converters or have i done something wrong?? |

Burning to CD as an audio CD always loses information.
You probably want to burn as MP3 or Data CD. That would retain the information.

If you burn to Audio CD, and leave the disk in the drive, then rip all on the same system, then iTunes remembers the information for you.
In your instance you moved the disc from one computer to another. So the information was lost. Audio CDs don't retain that information.

If I'm not mistaken, when you burn a CD in iTunes (it's been a very long time since I've done it!) there is an option to burn the metadata onto the CD, but only CD players capable of reading that will ever see it.
Also, after burning a CD with unique track order/ content, you can submit the CD's info to Gracenote's CDDB database right from iTunes. After a bit of time, someone ripping your CD into their iTunes library will be able retrieve the metadata from Gracenote when they insert the CD into their computer. |

I would rather use AAC Data CD or MP3 CD to transfer the songs with the data intact instead of cluttering up Gracenote with my rip.
Have you found a CD player that can read that data? I have not even found a computer program that can recognize that data.

The option to "Include Track Info" was a Red Book CD spec feature some CDs and players have called CD-Text which allows compatible CDs and players to display track info. I don't think the feature ever really caught on where a lot of CD players were capable but the CD makers didn't implement it. I had a car stereo with this capability but it also played MP3 CDs which is pretty much all I used in it. It is a data file included on the CD and the info is not embedded in the music. When you re-rip the CD you are only getting the music file and the ripper will not have the ability to associate the data and the music files with each other.
As already recommended if you want to transfer the music create data disks rather than audio disks or use a USB thumb drive. Use the "Include Track Info" setting only if you are creating an audio CD for a CD Player that is capable of CD-Text.
