Buying iBook with iTunes gift card

Newbie question. I received an iTunes gift card for Father's day. I recently bought new iPad. Can I go to iBooks and buy a book with the gift card? I have an iTunes account and have a large music library, but have never bought movies or TV shows. Can't seem to find a link in iTunes to buy books. Thanks.

Go to the App Store and download and install Apple's iBooks first, it's free. Once installed open iBooks And you will find a "Store" button in the top right corner where you can buy books from the device. Store credits redeemed in iTunes or any of the Stores on the device are all linked together by your Apple ID and can be used to purchase apps, music, videos and books. You can also use iBooks to organize and read PDF files such as the iPod and iPad buyers guides available on this site.

Mac users can also use the same credits for purchases in tha Mac App Store for computer software as well as iPhoto for photo books, calendars, photos and other items. Another misconception with gift cards is you will find music, apps, books and video cards. All iTunes gift cards can be redeemed for store credits which can be used to purchase all items regardless the type of card used.
