Okay guys, I finally decided to post and need your help.
I have been using itunes since the iPod 3g. I am from the old winamp days and have just gotten used to having ALL of my music files in one music folder. I simply have the filenames (artist-title.mp3)... I have been using itunes to just manually transfer the music to my devices. But when using my PC I would just type the first letter of the artist I want to listen to, or just create a seperate folder for a playlist. But enough is enough... I want to fully use iTunes for managing my music. BUT and here is the main issue. I happen to listen to music in one other language as well. And have 2 folders (in my main music folder) one for english and the other language. So if I'm in the mood for say, Russian music, I open that folder and select the files... BUT How can I do this if I let iTunes handle all the management? I don't think there is a tag for "language." So how will I be able to sort this out? I really appreciate your help and suggestions in this. I finally want to organize all my mp3s the most efficient way through a client. Since searching , and playlists etc.. is much more sophisticated than old-fashioned files. |

I would use playlists. Put all the Russian songs in a one or more playlists.
Another possibility is to use Genres. You could make a Russian Genre.

Hmm not a bad idea about the Genre, thanks. But say I want to find a song in the "Russian" genre, how can I alphabetize by name within that genre? Seems impossible if I do sort by genre...
Is there a way to make only a specific genre visible? |

It would be sorted alphabetically by default. Yes you can select a genre on your iPod, and all the songs in that genre will be there. You can also make playlists with a genre too.
