I've been continuously getting these errors over the past few weeks, and I'm at my wits end. I'm an iTunes Match subscriber, and iTunes Match refuses to update. I've purchased new music recently (from Amazon), and it won't sync to the cloud, which in turn means it won't show up on my iPhone/iPad.
I don't know what else to do to fix this. I've read up on it, and some people are saying that deleting the "iTunes Library Extras.itdb" and "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" files, and then restarting iTunes fixes the problem. It does not. I've also tried wiping the iTunes preferences file, and repairing permissions on the hard drive. Is anyone else having this problem? It can't be just me... |

Are all other online features of iTunes working (such as the iTunes Store) and are you fully updated to the latest version of iTunes?

Yes to both -- fully up to date, and other features such as the store are working. I just recently purchased some TV shows, actually (the problem had been occuring well before that).

One of the fixes I came across suggested that you move the Genius file to the Trash and empty it. Then remove iTunes all together making sure to empty your trash when you drag the files there. After that, download a fresh copy of iTunes and install it. Your playlists, play counts, ratings, etc. should not be affected since they are not stored in the iTunes application directory but rather in your library. Prior to this, if you want to be safe, you can always export your library file to a safe directory so that you can easily restore it after re-installing iTunes.
So remove the Genius file and then remove iTunes, then download a new installation file and go from there. That way you aren't simply restarting iTunes after only removing the corrupted Genius file. I am surprised that iTunes is even booting for you since that error has been around for a while and stops iTunes from fully loading.
