so here is the question: I know how to move the individual songs from someone else's ipod to my itunes library, (senuti, etc) BUT I want to be able to keep THEIR playlists in MY itunes library. Anyone know how to do that? I can't figure out a way to transfer the titles of songs or keep entire playlists together when moving them to my MAC's itunes library. Thanks for any help ---

Many 3rd party applications let you transfer songs within a playlist on an iPod to a playlist in your library (in addition to transferring the files). I know Music Rescue can do this. It works well for regular playlists, but smart playlists transfer as regular playlists.
The only way to transfer smart playlists is between iTunes libraries, where you would export them as .xml files from one library (not iPod) and then copy the .xml to the other computer and import them into the other library. But this only works if the songs in the playlist are on both computers, and in the same relative file location (though this may not be an issue between two Macs). Just curious -- what part of copying playlists using Senuti isn't working? In Senuti, you should be able to drag an iPod playlist from the Source list onto the iTunes icon in the Source list, and both files and playlist will copy over. Note that you can't drag from Senuti to the actual iTunes application window; you have to drag onto the iTunes icon within Senuti.
