I think I have this straight in my head, but please, someone tell me if I am wrong.
My friend and I have been on the same ipod account for years and downloading music to it, and just updating the two ipods from one computer. Now that we are older and have children and wives with ipods, I need to open another itunes account in my name and get the music from that itunes account. The solution, and correct me if I am wrong, is to load all of the music on to my ipod, hook it to my recently opened itunes account, manually manage the music, drag the folders to my desktop, and then drag them to my itunes. Once I do that and get all the songs on there, I will need to authorize my itunes account to play those songs purchase from his account, which is no problem because he will give me his username and password to his account. Is this correct? And if so, how can I authorize my itunes to play all of those songs easily, without having to authorize each song one at a a time? I hope this makes sense and I am on the right track. Last edited by jrh1010; 03-26-2010 at 04:35 PM. Reason: Title |

You don't need to authorize all songs, playing one will authorize all songs purchased under that user. If you have music from multiple users accounts in that library all accounts will need to be authorized. Be aware with this set up you could run into the 5 computer limit for iTunes accounts if both families have multiple computers.

Why not just use an external HD to transfer the songs from one computer to another? Much easier than monkeying around with trying to do it via iPod.
