Silenced audio tracks?

So a large number of songs in my iTunes library have had a track silenced, so that half of the song is still at normal volume (say, for instance, the acoustic guitar and the vocals) but the other half is extremely muted (let's say the electric guitar and the drums).

What's wrong??? How can I fix it???

Thanks in advance for any useful responses!!!

Are you hearing this when listening on your computer via iTunes or when you are listening on your iPod via headphones? If it is the latter make sure your headphones are plugged in all the way.

I'm hearing it on my computer via iTunes.

I've gone into "preferences" and reduced the "sound enhancer" to medium-low, and that actually seems to have solved the problem.

I leave that unchecked always.
I also leave Sound Check unchecked, too.
