Importing CD Help Reqd.

When importing a cd from itunes it is automatically puttin the cd number and track number in the filename (ie 01-01-In Your Eyes). Where is the setting to change this so that it doesn't include the track number in the file name. I have read a couple of posts about it being in preferences>import settings or preferences>advanced, but it does not appear to be there anymore on the current version of itunes.

Thnks for your help in advance.

You need to uncheck "Keep iTunes music folder organised" (see what it says below). Its on the Advanced tab in Preferences.

The posts you read were old....Apple removed that setting from the prefs window in v8. iTunes will still respond to the pref though; it's just that you may have to enter it in the Prefs file by hand. (If you're using the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" there's really no need, or benefit, to turn it off. Disabling the track-numbering pref will give you what you want without losing the sanity of letting iTunes organize folders and files.)

If you're on a Mac, this little app from Doug is the best way to go (it sets most of the "hidden prefs", not just track numbers). AFAIK, if you're on Windows you've got to set the pref by hand. This page has very clear instructions.
