iTunes error 4850 - burning back up cds

I need to back up all of my songs from iTunes so I can get my computer looked at. I have tried the back up option and everytime I do (whether I try Cds, DVDs etc) I always get the computer saying there is an error 4850.

I don't understand though, because everytime it cancels burning at a different time.... so I am confused as to what the problem might be.

I have also just tried burning certain playlists to data DVD/CD but it cancels and gives me the same error also...

I have run out of ideas and have wasted so many cds trying to do this!!

I wanted to do it through itunes, so that when I get my computer fixed (as it will need to be completely wiped), I will have all my songs named etc as I want them...

Does anyone have any ideas of what I could do?
Advice would be grately appreciated!!!

Thanks,
~Alicia~

I haven't seen that error. I'll pass on the usual help.

Apple has help: Can't burn a CD in iTunes for Windows
iTunes for Windows: Additional troubleshooting for burning issues
iTunes for Windows: How to tell if you have a drive that can burn a CD

iTunes: Installation of some third-party software utilities may prevent disc burning

Can you burn data CDs from XP?
Is the problem that needs to be fixed a CD issue?
Can you use different software (like Nero) to backup the directories outside of iTunes?

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....

Well I always use itunes to do it and I don't have Nero or other burning programs (I don't think)... and it normally burns cds and XP has no problems burning things out of iTunes on Data cd... I could easily keep my files and do it another way (that is no problem) but I just wanted to keep my iTunes library - because otherwise I will have to go and relabel all of my songs, artists, albums and that would just take weeks!!!!!!

Thanks though

Either type should work.

same problem

Running Win XP on a Dell XPS420 burning onto HP DVD-R disks. I now have 4 new coasters thanks to this problem.

Tried reducing the speed to 4x but did not help. (assuming that the "burn speed" preference for creating CDs also controls the burn speed for creating backups?)

I have successfully burned these HP disks with other files but they are not working in iTunes 7.6

Help!

I finally got it to work. I burned another coaster, and then it dawned on me that the point at which it seemed to fail was after maneuvering AWAY from iTunes for awhile (like to the browser or email client) then BACK to iTunes. Once I just let the process/burner run and not navigate away from iTunes, I had success!
