Playlist - out of order!

I have many playlists, but I usually only listen to the same 2 or 3.

The other day I decided to listen to a book on tape, so I went into the playlist and I noticed it was out of order. For example
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 1

So I plugged my ipod (2nd gen 20gig) into iTunes and looked at the playlist.
The column Name was "Clicked" and it was in the right order.
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4

The numbers on the left are correct (1 next to Chapter 1, etc)

I always thought that if you go into the playlist and click on a column (artist, name, etc) that is the order it will be on the ipod. (whatever order in iTunes is what order its in the ipod)

So why is it out of order on my ipod?
What can I do to fix it?

Thanks

Are you using manual sync?

If so, click on the correct sort, then right click the playlist that is on the iPod while connected to iTunes and select "Copy to play order" from the menu and then eject, that should hopefully fix the order.

Playlist out of order still

I'm trying to play a book on tape
the order of tracks in iTunes is proper (1,2,3,4....)
AND the order of tracks on the iphone is also proper
but when I let the iphone play it usually plays the first couple of chapters in order but after that it starts skipping around...
it's doing this for other playlists as well (seemingly anything that's set to automatically remove the track once it's finished playing)

Shuffel is NOT on, I promise...

is anyone else having this trouble?

thanks!

mine doesn't work either

My playlists are playing in the wrong order as well. I listen to podcasts in a particular order. Since the iPhone 3.1 update the order has been broken.

I have restored my iPhone, deleted and recreated my playlist, and even applied the "copy to play order" fix suggested by studogvetmed and noe of it works. I have the correct "songs" on my iPhone but they display and play in the wrong order. There is nothing I can do in the iTunes playlist window that will make it sort the tunes in the same order as they appear on the iPhone.

They broke it but will they fix it?
