Help - Itunes Smartlist does not pull same songs as iPod smartlist

I have a very specific problem with a smart playlist. It works perefctly in iTunes, but it never works on the ipod. In itunes, it will collect songs that fit the criteria (criteria below), but on the ipod, no songs ever appear in this smartlist.


Criteria:

Match ALL

Date Added is in the last 25 days
Year is greater than 2001

Live Updating is checked

I just can't this to work - as I said it is frustrating because this works perfectly in itunes, but when I sync it to the ipod, it does not show any songs.

When was the last time you transferred to the iPod?

As it turns out the "date added" field gets a new date compared to the "date added" in iTunes. My guess would be that the iPod can not find anything on the iPod that matches your criteria on the iPod itself.

That's my guess. I'm hoping apple fixes this discrepancy in the next firmware. I've made this suggestion in the feedback form.

When you say transferred, I synced it today and songs were moved from itunes to the ipod- does that count as the last time I transferred?


When I change this smart list to the following criteria

Date added is after 12/01/2003


the ipod and itunes work perfectly-- the same songs appear in both. It looks like this is a bug specific to the use of "days" and "date added", which is crucial when creating a "recently uploaded" smart playlist

Like Studogvetmed said, it has to do with the Date Added specifically.

In iTunes, the smartlist is looking for songs added to iTunes in the last 25.

The iPod is looking for songs added to the iPod in the last 25.

Here's how to test:

Drag the files from the iTunes smartlist to a regular playlist. Do a sync that includes this new regular playlist. See if the smartlist now works.

I think what's happening is that the new files aren't getting added to the iPod.

If that's not it, then I'm stumped...
