Backing up + Update

Hi All

I have a 20G 4G ipod and I'm wondering what the current views are regarding updating to itunes 7.0.2 and updating my ipod?, Are all the issues fixed, is it likely to crash my pc and ipod?

I guess one of the main reasons for me doing this is to resolve some of the errors in the ipod firmware 3.0.2 namely it crashing after it goes into deep sleep.

Also whats the best way of backing up my music library to DVD's?

Any advice from the more experienced that myself would be greatly received.

Ipod 4G 20GB
Itunes 4.7
XP Home, SP2

I haven't used iTunes 4, but in 5-7 you could make a playlist of your whole collection and tell iTunes to burn it to a Data Disc and use DVDs. You have to manually backup your *.itl and *.xml files in the iTunes directory to keep playcounts, playlists, etc.

iTunes 7 has an integrated backup utility that uses DVDs or CDs. I think it gets the *.itl and *.xml files for you, but I have not verified that. I still back them up manually.

Personally iTunes 7 works fine for me and my 2G Mini, 2G Shuffle, and 30GB Video.
