Is there a way to see who is on my iTunes?

I'm sharing my library over the LAN. I can see that I get about 3 users connected to my library (usually, once I get on, someone just hops on immediately too).

Pretty much I'd like to know if there's a way how I can find out who is listening to it or at least what song it is that they're listening to. Is there such a way?

I don't think so.

On my wireless network at the house, have my desktop & my 2 teenage sons have their laptops. If they have iTunes open, when I open iTunes, it immediately shows that they are "out there" on the network - so its not really the case that they are "hopping on immediately" - they just happen to have iTunes up & running.

But, as near as I can tell, I have no way to know if one of my sons is looking at or playing a song from my iTunes.

there are some widgets that will identify the IP address of connected people, but really no way of knowing who is connected.

This would be good. Sadly, I have a PC. I'll see if they have links for anything that I can use.

The under-the-hood way on either platform would be to open a command prompt (Windows) or Terminal window (Mac) and simply type "netstat -n" and look for computers that are connected on port 3689 (these will be the entries listing your IP address followed by a ":3689" - the entry immediately to the right will be the remote computer's IP address).

It's not necessarily the most user friendly way to do it, but it will tell you what you want to know.
