How many DVDs does it take to back up iTunes library??

I am trying to backup my library to move it to another computer and am on my 4th backup DVD with no signs of stopping. I have about 2,000 songs in my library. How many discs should I expect to use? Thanks!

I just backed up my library to DVD recently - about 3,300 songs took up just over 5 DVD's, but that's with all my music encoded to LAME MP3 - alt-preset-extreme, meaning larger filesizes on average as compared to lower bitrate MP3 or ACC files, thus for your 2,000 library collection I would hazard about 3 DVD's ought to do it, give or take.

I imagine that 4th should be your last one... but if it keeps asking for more, I'm not sure why (unless you've got a lossless library or something).

What's the size of your library in GB rather than songs? A DVD-R can typically hold 4.7GB (according to wikipedia...I don't have a DVD drive on my computer so I still use 700MB CD-R discs), so divide your library by 4.7, round up, and you should have the number of DVDs it will require. To find how large your library is, simply look at the bar at the bottom of the iTunes window. It should say something like: "3507 songs, 10.3 days, 13.84 GB". I ought to be able to back up that library on 3 DVD-Rs.
