please help!

im new on here...
i just got my first ipod a week ago, itunes 7 worked fine. then a family member of mine is stupid enough to download a virus off of some website. i do a system restore on my pc to get rid of the virus. i go to before i have the ipod and itunes. so now i reinstall itunes, and a message pops up taht says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.". the program installed fine and i tryed reinstalling it a hand full of times, i tryed repairing it, and it doesnt work. what do i do? is this common? can anyone help?
