Question Delete music from iTunes --> also delete from hard drive - SOLVED

How can I delete songs from hard drive at the same time I delete them from iTunes?

Deleting n+100 single songs from all over the hard drive is too much work when you could do it in a few secons using iTunes...

Open iTunes, go to the Library (not a Playlist) select the songs, Click on the Edit menu, then Clear. iTunes will prompt you to see if you want to Keep the Files, or Send them to the Recycle Bin. Choose Recycle Bin.

I think it depends where the music files are located - IIRC iTunes will only offer to delete the files if they are in the iTunes music folder.

Correct. iTunes doesn't consider any music files outside of it's "iTunes Music Folder" (as defined under Edit->Preferences->Advanced) to be under it's control, so it doesn't offer to delete them.

There was also a bug in some versions of iTunes that would prevent this from occuring even if the songs were in your iTunes Music Folder if your iTunes folder was to the root of the drive (ie, D:\). I don't know if they ever fixed this.

Excellent! That solved my problem. Thanks.
