itunes doesnt show my ipod as connected

when i plug in my ipod and open itunes, it charges my ipod, but it doesnt show my ipod as "connected" it used to but now it doesnt. i uninstalled itunes then reinstalled it and that didnt help.
im really not sure what the problem is...
anyone?
ps. ive also noticed my mouse freezes up when itunes is on...like it will stop working for 5 second intervals..
very annoying

Have you tryed updating the firmware, or resetting it to Factory Settings?

how would i do that, and would it delete all my music, since i lost all of it due to having to uninstall?

I't would do - try using a utility called PodUtil (you can google it), which can take off songs you've selected in its nifty little piece of software. It will store them in a folder of your choice.

Then you can go to the iPod Updater (dont know what OS your using), you can search for this on your pc, considering you have asctually installed it. Then click Restore. It will set it to Factory Settings, and format your iPod

thats the problem, i installed podutil and it says there is no ipod connected when there is

man this is aggravating...
and it also says to switch to disk mode and to do this look in the help files of podutil, which i have yet to find

You could try reinstalling the iPod Software
