I just downloaded itunes for windows and it seems good but I have one problem. It doesnt seem to automatically update my music library when I add new songs. For example my library consists of all the songs in a specific folder and I would like it so that when I add a new song to that folder it will automatically be added to the Itunes library. Is this possible or do I have to manually add new tunes to the library each time? Thanks, Rob

iTunes works as a database rather than a file manager, so yes, you need to add the files manually. On the positive side, it won't re-add a song that is already there.

On my mac, I just drag files onto the library screen of iTunes. In the prefs>advanced, I have it set to automatically organize my files. I also have it copy files to my iTunes folder. Everything I drag in is automatically sorted and filed away. Then I just delete the files I dragged in, which are usually from my desktop.

Yes, you need to import songs manually. Just drag the file or folder to the iTunes window and it does all the work.
Within iTunes Preferences, you cana also tell it to keep your music folder organized. Click on the Advanced tab, and select "keep iTunes folder organized." If you select "copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library" it will ensure any song you add to iTunes is stored in a central location on your computer, which you can choose to be the folder where you currently store your music. Another nifty feature I like is when you change a song, artist, or album name, it automatically makes the change to the file name in your music folder. A handy tool for those of us who like to browse our music folders manually from time to time. Chris
