Ipod touch 6th Gen Repair

Hi,

My Ipod touch's battery was not holding charge so I decided to do a dissembly. I accidently pulled the battery ribbon cable and it is damaged. How do I test if the battery connections are still intact in the logic board before purchasing a new battery? Also will Ipod work with a 18650 battery just for testing purposes. When I plug in the charger it shows a red battery icon but does not boot up. Any ideas?

Thanks.

The red icon indicates the battery is dead or missing. That is a good clue.

I would take it to a professional to finish. The can test it and put in the correct battery for a small cost.
